Orthodontics Aabraces.gif (2056 bytes)
for Children, Teens & Adults

Dr. Ebrahimian can provide healthy, straight, beautiful teeth for children, teens and adults. Because of multiple factors causing a malocclusion and the need for proper timing of corrective measures, the American Association of Orthodontics recommends that all children be evaluated no later than 7 years of age or when they have all four front upper and lower teeth.

How can I tell if my child will need braces?

There are six warning signs that parents can look for as an indication that your child may need braces.  These warning signs are visual observations of the mouth and teeth.   When you view the teeth answer these questions...

SIX Warning Signs

  • 1. How is spacing between the teeth?
        Crowded or overlapped teeth...

...or noticeable large gaps between teeth.

  • 2. Is there an open bite?
The child can stick his or her tongue between the upper and lower front teeth when the back teeth are together.

  • 3. Do the upper teeth protrude?
Excessive protrusion of the upper front teeth
-"buck teeth"- by far the most common orthodontic problem.

  • 4. Is there a deep bite?
The upper front teeth cover the lower front teeth too much.

bite_b.gif (4696 bytes)

  • 5. Is there an underbite?
The lower teeth are in front of the upper teeth.

  • 6. Do the midlines line up?
The spaces between the two upper front teeth and the two lower front front teeth should line up with each other and both should line up with the bridge of the nose.  When they do not, the probable cause is drifted teeth or a shifted lower jaw, resulting in an improper bite.

What type of braces are available?

Dr.Ebrahimian has available the latest in orthodontic technology.  He offers the traditional metal braces as well as the ceramic braces.  The use of ceramic provides an attractive, translucent appearance which makes the braces virtually invisible.  Ceramic brackets blend with your teeth's color, bond to teeth similar to metal brackets, and are designed to stay securely in place.  They shouldn't stain or discolor.
